In our annex meeting space/gallery, an exhibit of the art of Murray Laufer, recipient of an honorary doctorate from Concordia University, is presently underway. According to Stephen Weir
on the occasion of a retrospective of Murray Laufer’s work at the AGO in 2006, "Laufer graduated from the Ontario College of Art in 1952 and has designed productions for the Stratford Festival, the Canadian Opera Company, the Shaw Festival, the Banff Centre and the long-running stage version of Anne of Green Gables in Charlottetown. Canadians know him because of his inspired set designs; these shocking interpretations of dissected carcasses and the human form are an equally remarkable and unforgettable manifestation of his vision."
Our 40 Oaks project in Regent Park is set across a recently completed City of Toronto public park, which serves as an entry forecourt and a location for community gardens that will help feed the many people who make use of the community kitchen and food program run by CRC from within our building.
